Happy Mother's Day!

Haaayyy! A little "Shout out!" to mothers everywhere! Thanks for all you do; your self-sacrifice and dedication to your families.

It is so interesting, as we think of our mothers; the absolute influence they have on our lives. They serve as our first role models, our first love, the first person we become life dependant upon, confidants and the source where we seek all wisdom and knowledge. And yet, in all their competence they're still just as human and flawed as the rest of us. Where does all this come from? The answers are way beyond me and my knowledge or this simple blog.

I am also not so naive to believe that my experiences and sentiments towards my mother and the mother of our children are shared by everyone. Although, I for reasons I cannot explain , have been blessed to have been raised by a mother and to have raised along side with a mother that has provided such long lasting legacy's. Not for themselves, nor for their own namesake, but for the inherent "Love" that was shown them. The self-sacrifice that was exemplified before their own childhood. The wisdom and knowledge that they sought out from their own mothers, and so, the legacy continues.

Moms, thanks for the love, thanks for the legacy. Happy Mother's Day!

Kathy's sculptures

Last year, summer and fall and again this spring Kath has been enrolled in classes at Modesto Junior College. She took several academic classes, but also enrolled in art classes. She's always had her hands in the arts since her high school days, but under the mentorship of the art professor's she has come to her own in producing some very art-worthy pieces. Here are some of her stone sculptures. Believe me when I say, the pieces took some real time and effort to produce and she has the callouses to prove it. Oh and by-the-way, they are for sale if anyone's interested.

KAMB Christian Artist Search contest

As most of you know, Ty Caskey was one of 10 finalists in the KAMB's Christian Artist Search contest. The final event was held last night at the Monte Vista Chapel in Turlock. We all attended along with Ty's mother, his brother, his brother's girl friend and our good friend Jarad. We met Mea there and she brought along a friend.
The evening was filled with music and all of the contestants had the opportunity to perform. They all sung great and God's name was definitely praised. And although Ty didn't win the contest, it was certainly a good time for all who attended and were able to experience live the talent that is apart of the Central Valley. Thanks for all your votes and especially your prayers. Congratulations to all of the contestants!
(Sorry, I forgot the video camera)

Easter 2009

Easter was great this year. And even though we we're only able to share it with our immediate fam and a few close friends we had a good time; ate well, laughed and of course hunted easter eggs!

Bunker (Bunky)

So, as some of you may or may not know we got a new puppy for Christmas, well the girls got it for Kath. He is a full blood Basset Hound. The girls and I kept it a total secret before we gave it to her on Christmas Day. Thanks to Ty and his mom for keeping him for 4 days. I know that wasn't easy.

This is how he looked at 3 months and 14lbs...

... and here he is today at 7 months and 55lbs... (he's the one sitting on the ground).

Just starting out...

After receiving the first newsletter from our big sis Sharon, I thought it was a great idea, although wanted to do something a little more 21st century (sorry sis). It's not twitter, but it's not myspace either (ugh!).

We'll post pics, update on events (those family milestones) and such, do invites (save money on stamps), everthing that we would normally talk about when getting together, although for us at least et. al Larry Jr.'s fam, is too few and far between.

Anyway, I'm sending you the link and I'll post some pics and such so stay tuned.
